The Musers had a fabulous, full summer. We played the Hopmonk Beer Garden in May to a full and appreciative house. We also travelled to Yosemite for our third or fourth Amstock, a sweet backyard festival put on by Anita's dear friends from when she worked in the Yosemite Valley before becoming an art teacher. Megan and Tom went to the Strawberry Music Festival in Grass Valley, played a bunch and enjoyed the stellar lineup. We returned home to play the Railroad Square Music Festival in Santa Rosa in June, and then Megan and Tom returned to Grass Valley for the California Bluegrass Association Father's Day Festival. Another fabulous festival! The whole band travelled south to San Luis Obispo for the Live Oak Festival, which was a first for us. We were not booked, but we were asked to play two 45 minute sets on the side stage. We hope to play there next year in the Beer/Wine Garden stage. Back home in Sonoma County, we were honored to be asked to play the Luther Locals stage at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. As you drove up highway 101, our picture was on the big billboard! Does it get any better than that? Well, yes!
We went off on tour in July. We played 12 gigs in 14 days and we had a blast. We passed through Portland, OR on the way north and played Darryl Purpose's Thursday live stream. Then we motored up to Washington state and played a winery on Marrowstone Island, and a sweet community Center - Concerts in the Woods, in Coyle. Joe, Paul, and Norm Johnson took great care of us! Back to Portland to play Artichoke Music where we had a small, but lovely crowd. It is such a great room, like a little Freight and Salvage. Then we headed to Philomath, a small town near Eugene, and played totally acoustic in a wooden hall - Mary's Grange. Next was THE BRITT festival in Jacksonville OR. We had the great pleasure of warming up the crowd before LYLE LOVETT and his LARGE BAND. So, so fun! After that, we shot out to Bend, to open for The Green, a really cool band from Hawaii at the Silver Moon outdoor stage. We had a few house concerts in Cozine Creek and Creswell, OR on the way home to sweeten the tour. We love house concerts, and these two did not disappoint. We got home, and had a day off to sleep, then we played Peacetown in our hometown. This Wednesday night whole-town party is always a blast.
We were just about out of shirts, so we made up another batch of beautiful shirts at Anita's workplace - Analy High School art room. And we played Charlotte's Web Farm in Sebastopol to close out our summer. Now we are in a break - Tom is in Alaska, Megan is going on the Colorado River down the Grand Canyon. Anita's back at it with kids! It is nice to take a little break now and then to spend time with family and write. We are very grateful to all of you who came out and saw us this summer.
